Mens Rights Edmonton will be hosting a memorial for Earl Silverman – the man who founded and operated the only domestic violence shelter for battered men in Canada. The memorial will take place at 1:00pm on Saturday May 11th at the Norwood Legion in Edmonton, Alberta.

Battered men’s advocate Earl Silverman is dead. He committed suicide after 20 years of struggling with an uncaring Canadian society and Canadian government to provide services for battered men. He will be missed by many of those he helped over the years. AVFM Radio airs a special edition on his death.
The world lost a good man today. Earl Silverman, after twenty years of trying to find support to run a battered men’s shelter in Canada, called it quits and cashed in his own chips. AVFM Managing Editor Dean Esmay is angry about it. We can’t find any reason under the stars to blame him. RIP Earl.
