It’s been a groundbreaking three days. Following the Buzzfeed News piece which was published at 8am on Wednesday – and by midnight on the same day had attracted over 146,000 ‘hits’ – we’ve had many calls from journalists in the mainstream media. Pieces have appeared – or will shortly appear – in major publications including the Independent, Telegraph, Guardian, Observer, Mirror, either their print editions or on their websites. Most have posted pieces lying about, or misrepresenting, our election manifesto, but we honestly couldn’t care less. Thousands of people have downloaded the document, and it doesn’t take them long to realize the media are lying to them about its contents, or grossly misrepresenting it.
In the past two days I’ve had three television interviews and a radio interview, and more are planned. Yesterday I was a guest – along with Caroline Criado-Perez – on ‘This Morning’, an ITV programme which regularly attracts over two million viewers (mostly women). Please leave your comments on the YouTube channel rather than here.
We’re working ridiculously hours coping with the mainstream media interest in J4MB – when we were already busy campaigning in our three target constituencies – and we have no doubt this week will in time be recognized as the week the mainstream media realized it had no choice but to start reporting about men’s and boys’ human rights violations. This explosion of media attention is the fruition of the work of a remarkable team of people at J4MB over the past two years – none of whom are paid anything – and if you’d like to demonstrate your appreciation of that effort, I invite you to make a donation here. Thank you for your support.
