Why would Edmonton’s Karen Smith lie?

Posters with the message to false rape accusers, “Don’t be that girl” are, according to executive director of Sexual Assault Voices of Edmonton, Karen Smith, disappointing, inaccurate, rape-apologia and uncouth satire. We thought they are bringing attention to a crime, you know, a crime Karen says doesn’t exist. Or maybe Karen Smith is a fucking liar. [Illustration by Typhonblue]

You will be next, then your children

JTO rips us all a new one for our indifference in the face of systemic corruption, both political and legal. It seems we’re all content to wait for someone else to fix it while we chow down on our cheese covered wacky fries watching the big game. When will men wake up and understand, that when the guy next to you on the firing line goes down, you’re next. [Image by Europa Phoenix]

Don’t be that guy

Obviously, without being told, you might just rape somebody by accident. Because that’s what men are like, right? Shit, without a constant reminder, that’s what you are like. Maybe you should tattoo a reminder not to rape on your hand… you know, just in case. Right? But saying that men rape that men need constant reminders not to rape, all of this isn’t demonizing, not in the slightest. Right?

Reproductive Slavery

Reproduction is a human right. And by a human right, we mean a women’s right. JTO tells us how “a woman’s body, a woman’s choice” is seen as a declaration of women’s freedoms, yet is also a demand for men’s enslavement because its full wording is really “a woman’s body, a woman’s choice, a man’s responsibility”. Pay up, sucker. [Illustration by Typhonblue]

Forgetting to be shamed

Maureen O’Conner is clearly not a bad writer, and it turns out, not an emotionally arrested toddler either. She’s a member of the special people, one of those who determine when a man’s sexuality is appropriate. Inappropriate are men like Andy Hind. Maybe even men like you. Or maybe, just maybe, she isn’t so special after all, and should go fuck herself.

For AVfM Writers

JTO outlines changes to the submissions process. Specifically he is taking over for Paul as contributors’ point of contact with A Voice for Men and will be helping new contributors with the submissions process. Please update your contact information accordingly.
