Houston, We Have a Problem

Just when you thought misandry could not possibly become any more grotesque, it rears its Medusa-like head and reminds you just how deep the rabbit hole runs.

The Houston Press, a Village Voice owned local entertainment rag, generally features food and entertainment reviews, along with excursions into politics. Their copy is generally sandwiched between escort service and “massage therapy” ads, and is occasionally interesting.

Apparently their product, like a lot of print media, is struggling to find consumers. So, they have decided to stop walking the low road and tunnel under it with a recent article, “The 10 Hottest Women on the Texas Sex Offenders List.”

I don’t make this shit up. I couldn’t. Some of their victims were as young as two years old.

I could do 10,000 words on this and still spit nails hard enough to drive them into concrete. But I am not going to try to vent this out with an article analyzing every aspect of this scummery.

I am just going to share with you what I sent them, and offer up their editors contact below for those interested.

Dear Houston Press,

As a resident of Houston since 1981, and a human being for even longer, I submit to you that your article “The 10 Hottest Women on the Texas Sex Offenders List,” represents a new, almost unimaginable low in, well, in whatever it is you people are doing there.

I spent 20 years in this city counseling people whose lives had been all but destroyed by alcohol and drugs. I can personally testify that many of those people began self-medicating their emotional pain as a direct consequence of abuse. And yes, more of them than you would imagine were men who were sexually abused by women.

Often what happens to these boys is made light of by the ignorant in a culture too myopic to understand the obvious. Being sexually victimized is bad for them.

I tell you what; I can probably make some phone calls and put you in touch with some parents whose young boys have been the targets of female sexual predators. Perhaps you could have Richard Connelly tell those traumatized, outraged and suffering parents just how fucking hot the predator was that molested their child.

Or maybe you should have named the top 12 hottest child abusers and done a monthly centerfold. You would have gotten a lot more attention and could have stretched it out far past the temporary bump you are getting from this.

Lastly, you have already assaulted people’s sense of decency with this pathetic grab for attention. Was it really necessary to tack on an addendum that was equally insulting to our intelligence?

Connelly, adding on as an afterthought, pitches us with this: “I can understand how some people might react to this. On the other hand, it’s a way of getting readers to look at the info, maybe get them to realize there are people out there like this and they all don’t look like the obvious stereotypical pervert.”

I have heard more cogent after-the-fact rationalizations from pedophiles.

And the posted apology means exactly nothing as long as you leave that article up. But then, you already know that, don’t you?

You want to raise awareness? Take that piece of garbage down and post a public apology to every child ever robbed of their innocence by female predator.

Anyone who wants to send these folks a note can do so here.
