Benenice and Arsinoe

Feminists would have us believe that women were systematically oppressed before they arrived to rescue women from The Patriarchy. Feminists often claim that the occasional woman was able to overcome this oppression and rise in to a leadership role despite all the men trying to put her down. History tells a different story. Female rulers were common historically.

Robert Brockway talked about the Ptolemaic dynasty of Egypt in his ICMI2021 presentation. Here is another fine video on the topic.

Note how many women are involved in this story and how often they went toe-to-toe with the men, and each other.

NB: We have it on good authority that Benenice would have pronounced her name something like Bear-en-eek-ay. The pronounciation used in the video is French.
