I would like to see a poster like this splashed across every campus of every college that has kowtowed to the Department of Education’s directive to lower its standard of proof for alleged sex offenses to “preponderance of the evidence.” Some students who have no idea that the standard was lowered would see the posters and ask “why,” and it would initiate a much needed dialogue:
NOT BEING SURE CAN RUIN SOMEONE’S LIFE
Consent to engage in sex must be clear and unambiguous. A man should never proceed if he is only 50.1% sure that his partner consents.
Then why is this school allowed to expel a man accused of sexual assault when it is only 50.1% sure that he is guilty?
Stop the witch hunt. Raise the standard of proof for alleged sexual misconduct to the same level as other offenses.
