Dr. Lee works at Christ Community Health Services, the clinic where a 3 month old baby boy’s penis was amputated during a circumcision.

From “About Us” at the Christ Community Health Services website:

Everyone who enters our centers is treated with dignity and respect. We offer each patient spiritual healing and the opportunity to share in prayer. We believe that Jesus Christ is the true healer and with his guidance and comfort we can provide physical and spiritual healing.

Treating your patients with “dignity and respect” assumes that the patient wants the surgery, so when you genitally mutilate an infant- the patient – who’s unable to consent, you are committing an assault on a child.

This genital mutilation is unethical and potentially deadly, resulting in permanent disfigurement in varying degrees.

Here’s an excerpt of the story from WMC-TV:

Maggie Rhodes’ son Ashton was three months old when she had him circumcised at a local low-cost clinic.

“When he was in the room, he was screaming like life and death like, like there wasn’t no tomorrow,” she said. “When she pulled back the cloth, like the thing was like gone. She cut up instead of down, instead of cutting around the top of the penis.”

Rhodes says her son now screams when he urinates. He will need reconstruction work to correct what she considers a botched procedure.

Ob/Gyn Doctor Kent Lee did not perform Ashton’s circumcision nor has he ever met Ashton or his mom. Lee says most circumcisions are safe, but he says mistakes do happen.

“I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and I have never ever seen anybody with everything completely cut off,” said Ob/Gyn Dr. Kent Lee. “Actual penectomy is extraordinarily rare.”

So, Dr. Lee says most circumcisions are “safe” and that loss of the penis is “rare.” Well, I don’t know what he bases that on as records are not kept about those incidents, including death. I suspect he uses made up safety ‘stats’ to alleviate feelings of guilt or remorse.

Yes, “mistakes do happen,” but the ‘mistake’ is allowing people such as Dr. Lee to disfigure infants with potentially deadly surgery. The ‘mistake’ is magnified when ‘educated’ people such as Lee don’t realize the surgery itself is the mistake.

Well, Dr. Lee can’t say he’s “never ever seen anybody with everything completely cut off” anymore. At this rate, he’ll see another penis removal in the next 20 years – maybe he’ll cause it.

Or maybe he’ll see the light and show actual “dignity and respect” to those defenseless baby boys by not mutilating them without their consent.

Let’s place blame for ‘botched circumcisions’ where it belongs, on mutilating doctors who are performing risky surgery that is medically unnecessary.

Here’s an excerpt of the story about the incident from opposingviews.com:

A three-month-old infant has been left mutilated after doctors cut off his penis during what was supposed to be a 20-minute circumcision procedure.

Memphis, Tenn. mother Maggie Rhodes is now regretting taking her son Ashton to the Christ Community Health Center in August to get circumcised.

“After I went home and I discovered that my son’s penis was not there, I immediately froze, like, oh my God,” Rhode told My Fox Memphis.

Rhodes said she was told the procedure would only take 20 minutes but was left waiting for hours as she heard her baby scream throughout the entire procedure.

“It took them about three hours to do the circumcision and so my baby screamed the whole three hours, like the whole process,” Rhodes said. “Then even when she gave him back to us, he was still screaming.”

Rhodes said she was not notified of the botched procedure, instead she and her sister made the shocking discovery at home when Ashton was still screaming and they saw his diaper filled with blood.

“When she pulled back the cloth, like the thing was like, gone. She cut up instead of down, instead of cutting around the top of the penis,” Rhodes said.

All that was left was a partial penis and his testicles. Rhodes said Ashton urinates through a hole in his penis and screams in agony.

The mother plans to sue the doctor and clinic – you can read about that here. I hope more people realize that the ‘mistake’ was raising a scalpel in the first place.

See Ashton’s mom (now a ‘regret mom‘) interviewed and Dr. Lee admit he’s been cutting penises for 20 years here.

Since there is no risk and complication information given by Christ Community Health Services or Dr. Lee, you can read that here at neonatalcutting.org.
