If Melanie Reyes had been a man, she most likely would not have been permitted anywhere near her 6-month old son unsupervised.

But Melanie Reyes is a woman so the press reports the alleged domestic violence incident as though it may not have happened. But Melanie Reyes is a woman so she was let out of jail (no bail mentioned). But Melanie Reyes is a woman so she was permitted to retain custody of her son. But Melanie Reyes is a woman so she was allowed to take a handgun and shoot her 6-month old son.
