In response to “In Response to Sommers’ Talk: A Love Letter to Ourselves“, The Oberlin Review, April 18, 2015:
Dear Oblinettes, First let me make clear that I am a Sexual Assault Survivor and Advocate – so where the Oberlin authors call for such voices to be given priority, I will advance by their permission and full throttle. My voice counts even if you are to hate what I say and how I say it! I really have no time for “Social Justice Worriers(sic)” who just make the issues less clear and all too egocentric.
Some, if not all of these Tizzified Students, do need to do some homework and stop just bombing social media, public gatherings and even their own “Incredulity Glands” with “Woozles” and “Fallacious Memes”.
Just because you “squeem” it loudly and meme it endlessly, it does not make it reality – false evidence by citation (The Woozle Effect) does not make the false evidence magically more valid by repetition or volume. Maybe if the signatories to this laughable letter actually used a library and researched some basic facts (rather than constructing hug boxes with baskets of non-oppressive kittens) they may make some basic sense and not have damaged their own credibility on a global scale.

They also reveal a desire to read into the data an a priori position that is really not there, what Bacon calls “idols of the theatre”. If Francis Bacon was aware of the psychology of memery, when he published “Novum organum” in 1620, one does have to wonder if the modern day 21st century ignorance is due to good old fashioned ignorance, feigned ignorance or wilful ignorance coupled with the petulant stamping of feet? When students get lost in the Idols of The Theatre, swallowing Academic Dogma whole and then becoming vacuous envoys for daftness and error, they really have no place in Higher Education… or Lower Eduction for that matter . They should not be funded to make fools of themselves or cause distress and damage to others.
The 1 in 5 Meme was debunked back in 1993, as written about by Hoff Sommers and she fully attributed the hard work to the two journalists, Schoenberg and Roe, of The Toledo Blade (Ohio). They obtained from Prof Mary Koss the admission that her claims were based upon a limited sample and should not be used Globally. So anyone spouting the 1 in 5 meme has had no credibility for over 20 years! I bet someone deliberately forgot to mention that lack of Credability to the Onblinettes!
There should end 20+ years of the Cult Of Mary Koss. But no – all you need is uneducated zealots who love “NOT” reading, but do love making themselves seem deludedly powerful, to just chant ad nauseum “1 in 5”.
They want to live under a mentality of victimhood and special pleadings! This is why so many state that modern Feminism demands that all women be viewed as Victims, and shows just how bad stats and irrational claims (Sacred Science) are used to drive that cult position.
Please make sure that when you claim that Hoff Sommers is a Rape Apologist (TTC) you include Prof Mary Koss, who after woozling her own Data, had to retract the memes over 20 years ago. Many are unaware of just how pernicious the memes and cult mentality are. As Hoff Sommers observed, “Mary Koss and Sarah Buel were invited to give testimony on the subject of violence against women before the House judiciary Committee. Dean Kilpatrick’s findings were cited. Neil Gilbert was not there; nor were any of the other scholars interviewed by the Toledo Blade.“.(Who Stole Feminism page 224) Never let a discredited academic get in the way of Pushing a Political Agenda – and never let Credible academics contradict the meme holders and those who have invested a career on the backs of false memes.

Where is the campus wide condemnation and false claims about Journalists who are not Erdleyesque or covered in moss due to the combination of Journalistic Inertia and Turpitude? Shouldn’t both Schoenberg and Roe still be receiving Junior league Feminist Opprobrium today, given just how TOXIC (TTC) they must be to have contradicted Feminist Doctrine in the first place?

Lets fast forward to December 2014 when the DOJ publish a Special Report (NCJ 248471) “Rape and Sexual Assault Victimization Among College-Age Females, 1995–2013”.
The report shows that not only is the incidence of sexual assault/rape lower on campuses, making them safer than the rest of the USA …. the DOJ also showed that the 1 in 5 meme is false and should read 0.03 in 5.
So, the 1 in 5 meme was in error by how many Thousands of Percent?
Some quick maths – if the rate is 7 per 1000 and not 200 per 1000, that is 200 divided by 7 = 28.57 … and since 7 is the 100% factor you multiply 28.57 by 100 = 2857% error. Now should that get a Grade A+ of an F–? Just how many standard deviations away from sanity are required, before the meme munchers shut up and get to the coffee pot super fast long after the wake up call? It’s not a nightmare, it’s bad education and cult indoctrination.
That some still demand that the 1 on 5 meme is real only shows how deeply the Sacred Science of Rape Culture has become a cult, where faith replaces reality and obedience to the group meme overrides a $60,000 education. That some so crassly have labeled Dr Sommers as rape denier (TTC) for having been proved right by the US Government, stinks of Petulant Sauce poured over the Smarting Posteriors of Cult Members.
That some keep demanding it is real and has to be real has led to the coining of the new Compound Noun: “Statistical Apoplexist” – “a person who refutes the reality of official stats that are known to be flawed, especially any stats that undermine their faith and cult membership of Social Media Inspired Cathedrals of Memery. They are often to be found in academic settings and amongst those who believe they create reality upon demand, whilst wearing a White Trilby jauntily cocked to the left. They also frequently mistake Fedoras for Trilbies, and vice versa. Frequent inhabitants of safe spaces and known to kidnap kittens, they cite as reasonable cause their own psychological infirmity, whilst stroking the kitten in an overly aggressive fashion often leading to the kitten being traumatized for life.“.
It was such a shocker that even the bastion of the 1 in 5 meme Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand tried to take it off her webpages without anyone noticing… but She Failed – poor lamb. Here is The Before – and here is The After. At least Obama has had the good sense to stay Stumb and hope that his public stupidity 25 January 2014 can remain just simmering until he runs off with a retirement package … or maybe he’s too frightened of how Michelle would react?
Gillibrand, So inept in politics that she got caught with her pants down trying to cover up years of her own ignorance. Quite an amazing and complex set of Political Gymnastics, bending over backwards and kissing your own political career “au revoir”! It has to be more than rumour that she’s in negotiation with Cirque du Soleil.
Rather than acknowledging decades of error, she just tried to reinvent the meme by inviting Columbia University ‘mattress girl’ Emma Sulkowicz to the State of The Union. She just had to keep the great Rape Culture Memes flying high in the media and the American Psyche! She has been justifiably vilified for her comments which went far beyond the acceptable for a US Politician. In light of Columbia facing legal action, Sulkowicz has even dropped making claims she was raped and now insists that her 1st amendment right and her desire to create art by public performance override any person’s right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Next year I will be touring US campuses dressing in a Mink Bikini with a Water Bed reporting that both Sulkowicz and Gillibrand have raped me with a Zucchini… and I’ll be looking for any Braindead politician with a negligent coterie of sycophantic staff so that I too can go to The Prom. What a pity that Aaron Schock had to jump ship!
Of Course when asked if the claims are real or not, I shall just Quote Sulkowicz “.. really it’s just an artistic expression of the personal trauma I’ve experienced at Columbia. If artists are not allowed to make art that reflect on our experiences, then how are we to heal?'”.
It’s interesting that after months of silence by Jean-Paul Nungesser, Sulkowicz has the temerity to claim“It’s ridiculous that he would read it as a ‘bullying strategy,’ especially given his continued public attempts to smear my reputation…” which raises red flags for me of attempts by Sulkowicz to DARVO and Reverse Victim and Offender. To deny that her mattress antics have not had an impact upon Nungesser and not attacked him as a person should beggar belief, except it’s normal behaviors when dealing with Crazy!
So we have decades of bad information and Unjust Social Media Memes being thrown about in Statistical Hysteria… and now we have actual proof of the “Backfire Effect”.
The “Backfire Effect” (Nyhan, Reifler 2010) is a Psychological Bias where in the face of contradictory evidence, established beliefs do not change, but actually get stronger. It’s Confirmation Bias and comes under the purview of “I believe it, Therefore it just has to be is true” fallacies (Petulant Subset).
The pot shots at Hoff Sommers are classic misfires from those who are so inculcated into false ideas that they are acting like a headless cult. It’s pure Moral Panic with a shifting bogeyman as the Folk Devil. The “Moral Entrepreneurs”, the instigators of the Hysterical Headless Cult, have long moved on and sit back chuckling as they watch their marionettes still wielding the memes long after they have been debunked.
As soon as one mythical devil is shown to be Self Inflicted Fright Night, the adrenaline Junkied SJWs just move a little further west and create a new Bogeyman to keep the Sugar Rush going. The”Moral Entrepreneurs”, the Steinems and Kosses, keep lapping it up and using the incredulity of the masses as a smoke screen.
This also gets mixed up with the “White Hat Bias” (Cope, Allison 2010) – “bias leading to the distortion of information in the service of what may be perceived to be righteous ends”.
It’s time to stop worshiping at the temple of the great cathedrals of MSSs (Social Media Memes) and start doing some actual academic study and A+ homework. Hell, even an honourable try would raise grades above F Minus Minus!

If you look at some quality academic sources and ignore the travesty that is Wakipedia(sic) you find the following:
“Rape culture is a concept of unknown origin and of uncertain definition; yet it has made its way into everyday vocabulary and is assumed to be commonly understood. The award-winning documentary film Rape Culture made by Margaret Lazarus in 1975 takes credit for first defining the concept.”
Please note that certain feminist editors at Wakipedia have refused for this valid reference to be used on the Wakipedia pages on Rape Culture, and they have even orchestrated editors who used it being banned from Wakipedia. If you look up any details of this film “Rape Culture” you find very quickly that it was made in response to the Work of “Prisoners Against Rape” (PAR), a not for profit founded by Larry Cannon and William Fuller, Prisoners at Lorton Reformatory Virginia. It was William Fuller who wrote to congress to submit evidence and who is the person who had Rape Culture entered into the Congressional Record. I bet they don’t teach you that bit of African American History at Oberlin!

Are they supposed to be Social Justice Warriors or just Social Justice Worriers, who see a bandwagon and demand free passage and a right to ignore Noise Ordinances that would control their inane and outraged blathering?
The whole 5 year mainlining (Since 2011) of the Rape Culture Crack will give social psychology decades of research material on just how a group can lose their grasp on reality and suffer mass psychosis. All because two words are placed side by side and knee jerks follow. Those Two Words could be “Rape”+”Culture” or “Wage”+”Gap” or even “Gamer”+”Gate”.
However the greatests trigger for abreaction by the untutored and poorly tutored masses is “Factual”+”Feminist” … and they respond with such tortured uses of the English language as, “A rape denialist is someone who denies the prevalence of rape and denies known causes of it. Christina Hoff Sommers believes that rape occurs less often than statistics (those which actually leave out a plethora of unreported rapes) suggest. ”
Fact 1: Statistics are Not Truth
Fact 2: Statistics identify trends in time
Fact 3: Dr Sommers uses statistics Correctly
Fact 4: Dr Sommers looks at how the statistics have been generated and how bias in the process does not just suggest error, but Identifies error and reduced value in the Stats.
Fact 5: Dr Sommer’s concerns raised in her 1994 book “Who Stole Feminism” have been proved valid and even correct. See Chapter 10 “Who Stole Feminism” (1994) … read it if you dare!
Fact 6: Dr Sommers has never been a Rape Denialist or Apologist, but she has questioned Suggested Statistics where the methodologies of surveys studies have failed to pass PEER REVIEW and even Journalistic Scrutiny due to basic errors and failures by supposed academics to follow basic ethics and even common sense.
Where Junior League Social Justice Worriers demand that bad stats prove a Rape Culture exists, Dr Hoff Sommers is quite correct when she points out that The Rape Culture and it’s associated memes Can’t exists and have no validity. The evidence is lacking. Whoops: one headless cult popped with a tiny prick of logic!
