‘The best books… are those that tell you what you know already.’ George Orwell
I recently revisited George Orwell’s classic novel, 1984. I enjoyed the book far more than I did the first time I read it when it was part of the school syllabus. I think it had a far greater impact on me today because so many of the ideas expressed are alive and well in 2019. We have not yet reached the extreme levels of government control and brainwashing described in Orwell’s book, but we are certainly getting closer with each passing year.
I stopped to reflect on different passages throughout the book because of the uncanny similarities I saw between the methods used by Big Brother to control the narrative in their society and the methods used by feminists today.
I have selected a number of quotes from the book which leapt out at me as being something we are acutely aware of as men and women who have swallowed the red pill.
Life, if you looked about you, bore no resemblance not only to the lies that streamed out of the telescreens, but even to the ideals that the Party was trying to achieve.
This quote resonates deeply. When I was a much younger man, I was bombarded by the same vile messages we see today about the evil of men and innocence of women. I was informed that there was a War on Women by one of our major daily newspapers. I was told one in three women were being beaten behind closed doors and this was our country’s darkest secret.
This was a time where my wife and I regularly (but reluctantly) attended dinner parties and social gatherings. Whenever the issue of domestic violence was invariably raised by virtue signaling men (they did exist before the internet) I felt the bile rise in my throat and my heart thump heavily in chest. I tried to disguise my emotional anger and genuine outrage at these unsubstantiated slurs, but I don’t think I fooled anyone.
My strongest argument was one of common sense back then. As protagonist Winston Smith of 1984 says, the life I experienced and observed every day bore absolutely no resemblance to the dystopian nightmare painted by our media and the wine sipping feminists who seemed to flourish at such gatherings.
“But if what you say is true,” I would say, “then one third of the men in this room are secretly beating their wives. Are you one of them?” I’d ask which ever fool was parading his credentials to any woman willing to listen.
“How does our society function so smoothly given a third of our women are abused and physically assaulted each night of the week? I’m a teacher surrounded by women. I have never seen a woman with a bruise or black eye in (at that time) a decade of teaching. How can that be, given this horrendous war we men are waging on our womenfolk?”
It was all anecdotal and based on my gut instinct which screamed “bullshit!” I knew it was a lie. But back then, I couldn’t prove it.
I can still hear one of the more pompous fools turning one night and announcing to the guests that:
“Mark thinks that domestic violence is a myth.”
He said it with such a smug, sanctimonious tone, I still get angry thinking about it and that was twenty- five years ago! I wanted to throttle him for his very deliberate misrepresentation of what had been a private conversation. Is it any wonder I had indigestion after these nightmarish gatherings!
Trust your instincts. Trust your life experience. Most people can smell a rat when the story they are being told simply doesn’t pass the stink test.
The women I worked with, lived with, dined with and encountered every day looked very happy, extremely healthy and content. Was it all a façade and pretense? They didn’t appear to be concerned about the war that was being waged upon them. They were still crowding our shopping malls and getting their hair and nails done or sipping coffees in cafes in the company of their laughing friends. My female work associates appeared very happy to go home at the end of a long day.
Were my dear mates and male work associates really transformed into violent monsters the moment they closed the front door to their home? No. Of course not. Time and the internet proved me correct many years later.
‘Who controls the past’, ran the Party slogan, ‘controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.’
Feminists learned this truth many years ago. They have very effectively rewritten our history in order to make it fit their present-day narrative.
Their constant references to the “dark old days” when women were oppressed and treated like chattel and men lived lives of privilege now sit deeply embedded in the minds of both men and women who have been subjected to this myth in their journey through our schools and universities. Even men who are not feminists will often say:
“I know women were oppressed. We treated them like second class citizens and chattel for most of history, but the wheel has now turned too far the other way.”
I gnash my teeth in anguish when I see how ingrained this lie has become in even the most reasonable people. Jordan Peterson always becomes incensed whenever this absurd proposition is placed before him.
The tributes to the courage and heroism of the suffragettes is another lie swallowed by the vast majority of people in western cultures.
The fact that they used terrorist tactics, never wanted voting rights for all women and universal suffrage had not been extended to all men during this time is never taught to our youth. No student is aware that tens of thousands of young men died in the mud and blood of the Somme without having the right to vote. Their wise government believed they were old enough to die and be mutilated in war but not old enough to have a vote and a say in who would be a part of the very government that so ruthlessly condemned them to the hell so few returned from intact.
We don’t teach our children the truth about the noble suffragettes who taunted and humiliated men they deemed to be cowards for not going to fight overseas.
They handed men, young and old, white feathers in the street or placed them in their mailbox. Many of these males were so ashamed they enlisted despite the fact they were only teenagers. Other killed themselves rather than live with the ignominy and face the contempt fostered by these compassionate witches.
Constant allusions to “male privilege” both now and in the past are all lies. Just watch this remarkable footage of men and boys returning from or going to the coal mines in England. Do they look entitled and privileged?
Our friend, Mr. Bax makes feminist claims of female oppression and misery in the supposed dark days of the early 1900’s laughable when you read his detailed and fact-based essays on the many privileges extended to the fairer sex in law and society at large back then.
Did women face terrible hardships during the past? Yes. They did.
But here’s the kicker–so did men and one could make a very strong argument to suggest their burdens were greater. Child birth was women’s greatest burden and that was something inflicted upon women by nature and biology–not men or the patriarchy.
All of the above myths (and many more) are a deliberate misrepresentation of objective truth. Sadly, most of the population, even those who are predisposed to supporting men’s rights today, swallow it.
They have succeeded in controlling the past as well as the present to support their feminist narrative.
To die hating them, that was freedom.
Hate is a very strong word, but it is what I feel for the ideology so many people coldly and deliberately support with lies, distortion and manipulation as their key weapons. They display an utter contempt for the pain and suffering of a human being who possesses male genitalia.
I am a realist. Feminism will be thriving long after I am dead and gone. We are planting some seeds and hoping they take root and flourish. It will perhaps take a few generations before people see this time as one of bigotry and madness and again treat people as individuals rather than members of a tribe defined by gender.
I am a very emotional person who loves with a passion. I am an empathic person. I feel great compassion for any living creature I see in pain or suffering in any way. As a little boy I was stung more than once by bees as I rescued them from our little backyard swimming pool. I still step over rather than crush spiders and ants. I have never willfully harmed another person or creature in my life other than the rare times when I was defending myself in a fight back in my schooldays.
But my hatred for what feminism truly represents, rather than the laughable dictionary definition, will stay with me until I die.
In this age of political correctness and doublespeak, that is an act of freedom.
The object of terrorism is terrorism. The object of oppression is oppression. The object of torture is torture. The object of murder is murder. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?
This quote allows me to see inside the minds of feminists who so coldly lie about “toxic masculinity” and inflate any statistic which encourages the population to see women as victims whilst ignoring the overwhelming proof that it is our men and boys who are suffering in far more deadly and dangerous ways.
I used to think these feminists were operating in good faith, that they were simply ignorant and not aware of the ways in which our males are ignored.
But I have learned through bitter experience that most feminists are very aware of the fact that our men are killing themselves at a frightening rate, dying in their place of work, failing in school, treated as second class citizens in our judicial system, overwhelmingly the homeless sleeping on our streets and suffering abuse in their homes with nowhere to turn for help.
They just don’t care.
This truth frightened me more than angered me. Watching the hatred and venom spewed by feminists as men simply attempt to attend a talk on male suicide (in the link above) is horrifying. These are sick people, but sadly they are not a fringe group. They symbolize everything that is rotten about this hateful ideology.
I find it shocking to believe people can be so hardened and callous.
There is not one man in our “movement” who would suggest for one moment that we should not do all in our power to give aid and comfort to women who are abused, homeless, ill or suffering in any way.
Our crime is, we simply want the same for men.
Reading the quote from 1984 made it clear. There is no need to dig deeply into the psyche of these women and men who sit in government or have prominent public platforms in the media.
They have a lust for power.
The way to achieve it in this sick day and age is to play the victim and demonize and blame others for that victimhood, or be seen to be in support of these purported victims. This is why so many men in positions of power are willing to join in with those who denigrate, demonize, belittle and dismiss males. As long as they are seen to be supporting and subsidizing the “victims” they will be safe and prosperous.
Victimhood brings you money. Victimhood allows you to take money and rights from those you hold responsible for your oppression.
Victimhood gives you power.
Rosie Batty is an example of this strangely effective strategy. Losing her son to a violent assault by his father made her the victim. The feminists pounced upon her. She became their symbol. She was named Australian of the Year. She received money and adulation. Her words on the issue of men and violence were repeated and swallowed by the media. Hundreds of millions of dollars in funding poured into the already overflowing coffers of the domestic violence industry but it was never enough.
Of course, Rosie’s greatest weapon was her victimhood. Anyone who dared to question or criticize this woman was the devil incarnate.
How dare you even raise an eyebrow when this mum from Tyabb tells you men are the problem and always have been. She lost her son, don’t you know? The government bent to her will for she was a victim and a woman. She was a font of all wisdom because she had lost her son. For shame you heartless, hateful heathens!
Why do we see men’s health receive a quarter of the funding of women’s health in this country even though men die earlier and have so many mental and physical afflictions?
Gynocentrism is one part of the answer. The second is that men as a collective are held in contempt. It is easy to ignore the needs of those you find contemptible.
In the end it is all about one thing.
Power for power’s sake.
That is why facts don’t matter. Evidence is pointless. These haters are never going to relinquish their grip on the coffers or the powerful public platform from which they speak their lies and myths for something as unimportant as the truth.
Your worst enemy, he reflected, was your nervous system. At any moment the tension inside you was liable to translate itself into some visible symptom.
This quote takes me back to those dinner parties. Sometimes my Maggie would ask me to try to contain myself if certain issues arose during the evening. I always tried. But my nervous system always betrayed me. Heart hammering, not so much in fear but with undiluted anger over the lies and the smirking denigration of men and boys.
The tension within my physical body always manifested itself in a shaking but clear voice and (I am told) an intensity which was rather overwhelming for some. I cannot present myself in the way in which I have seen Paul Elam do in interviews.
Calm, strong and clear.
My emotions envelop me and as Winston so aptly observed:
“at any moment the tension inside you was liable to translate itself into some visible symptom.”
What can you do, thought Winston, against the lunatic who is more intelligent than yourself, who gives your arguments a fair hearing and then simply persists in his lunacy?
We have all experienced this. You calmly and methodically explain the ways in which men are disadvantaged in our society and women for the most part, advantaged. You calmly rebut the notion that female athletes are paid less just because they are women. You cite the statistics, the indisputable facts, the undeniable evidence and all you see in the face of the feminist in front of you is an angry, seething ideologue, simply waiting for you to cease your blathering of facts and confess that our society is oppressive and patriarchal and men are privileged. So there!
It is unnerving and frightening when you become aware of how deeply wedded most feminists are to the deliciousness of victimhood and the rage they feel when indulging in this fantasy.
So long as they (the Proles) continued to work and breed, their other activities were without importance. Left to themselves, like cattle turned loose upon the plains of Argentina, they had reverted to a style of life that appeared to be natural to them, a sort of ancestral pattern…Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult.
The Proles in our world are most of the men in our society. This is the biggest hurdle to be overcome and it may never be achieved. As others have so often said, most men are focused on a few simple things–getting through the working week, enjoying a few beers with their mates, watching the footy and laying a few bets on the horses. They don’t have the time or inclination to fill their head with rubbish about men’s rights and injustice in the family court. If it isn’t directly impacting their life why should they give a fuck?
Men are notoriously difficult to motivate when it comes to speaking up for themselves or other men. It makes them uncomfortable. It’s embarrassing to be seen as a whining loser, which is how the media and feminists describe men who have the nerve to demonstrate concern about their brothers, fathers and sons. It’s unseemly. It feels awkward and does not come naturally to a man.
So why wrestle with these issues if they are not impacting my life? Hell, even if they are, no-one wants to hear about my problems. Where’s the beer? Hey, my horse won by a short half head!
Drinks are on me!
He was a lonely ghost uttering a truth that nobody would ever hear. But so long as he uttered it, in some obscure way the continuity was not broken. It was not by making yourself heard but by staying sane that you carried on the human heritage.
I think all of us have felt this at some time in our struggle to speak the truth to those who are willing to hear it. But I have stopped worrying about how many people will read my words or how many men and women will see the light. If one person is changed by visiting AVFM or watching Paul, Tom, Janice or Karen, that is a victory. But ultimately, simply writing the truth and speaking the truth every day is enough.
It is not by making yourself heard, but by staying sane that you carried on the human heritage.
Winston Smith’s first act of rebellion was to take a pen and paper and write a few sentences about the insanity he saw being acted out every day in his world. It was terrifying and exhilarating.
Writing and reading the truth keeps us all sane. It also enables anyone with ears to listen and eyes to see, to uncover the truth about our society and who it prioritizes.
In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality was tacitly denied by their philosophy.
Girls in our education system, including elite private schools, believe they are oppressed. They are taught this and they believe it, even as daddy picks them up from school in his Mercedes and drives them to their violin lesson or buys that new saddle for their horse.
External reality is tacitly denied by the philosophy they are exposed to every day.
You see it in shopping centres where women congregate, sipping lattes, getting nails tended to in salons and buying expensive clothes. Many of them would happily subscribe to the notion that women are oppressed by our patriarchal society and we still won’t have equality till the government is truly representative of our population or 50% of CEO’s are women!
External reality is tacitly denied by the philosophy they are exposed to every day.
On her way home she will drive past men operating heavy machinery as they widen a road, men climbing telegraph poles to keep the electricity flowing to their homes. Other men can be seen pouring concrete and smoothing it out with their trowels–backs bent, covered in dust and dirt.
External reality is tacitly denied by the philosophy they are exposed to every day.
She will not see them.
Perhaps she is listening to the ABC and hearing yet another story about female oppression. A man had the temerity to spread his legs on the train seat and this seems to be yet another clear demonstration of male privilege.
Men are such selfish, entitled pigs!
External reality is tacitly denied by the philosophy they are exposed to every day.
Being in a minority, even in a minority of one, did not make you mad. There was truth and there was untruth, and if you clung to the truth even against the whole world, you were not mad.
This quote brought me such piece of mind when I first read it. For doing what we do here at AVFM we are ostracized, ridiculed, demonized and dismissed by those who have the power and voice in our society. It is a painful, disconcerting thing to endure at times. One could be forgiven for questioning our stance and feeling doubt under the weight of this relentless deceitful criticism.
But Winston Smith/George Orwell spoke the truth. There is such a thing as objective truth. One opinion can be right and supported by facts, another can be wrong, supported by lies, half-truths and omissions.
Our position is iron clad.
We simply want men to receive the same support, compassion, empathy and attention as women whenever they are suffering or being treated unjustly. We have never wished for women and girls to lose any rights or support. Nor have we ever called for the subjugation of women. It is a lie which would sit comfortably alongside any of the falsehoods spewed by the Ministry of Truth.
We will cling to the truth, no matter how outnumbered, overwhelmed or disillusioned we become.
We remain a tiny rock of truth in an endless ocean of untruth.
These humorous little clips provide a glimpse into our future. They are not so far-fetched as we would like to believe. They are quite insightful.
Winston Smith would see these brief glimpses into what may come as a warning rather than comedic relief.
I think the same, but it may already be too late.
